If you have been wanting to build your own Shopify store to start making a passive income but feel like you don’t know enough about it, you are in luck! We have put together this quick Shopify tutorial for you to learn everything a beginner needs to know to run a Shopify Store.

This is a step-by-step tutorial including how to create, design, and build your own profitable Shopify dropshipping store from scratch and the best part is that you don’t have to be an experienced web developer to do that. Let’s get into it.

Step 1: Find the Perfect Product

Your product must have a wow factor. It must be high-quality and should have something unique about it. The better your product is, the faster it will make your store grow. What you really need is to find a great product in a passionate niche or targeted market. Products with a broad range work incredibly well. Look for the products, people are passionate about, for example, camping, hiking, gardening, fashion, beauty, veganism, etc. The more you niche it down, the better it would be.

Step 2: Sign Up with Shopify

Go to Shopify.com. Sign up to create your account to build a Shopify store. Enter your business email, password, and your new store name and click start free trial. Shopify will start creating your website. Next up, they ask you some questions, you can skip them if you want. Click next and enter your address details and click the “Create your store now”. Next, you will be asked a few more details about what your store will be selling, enter your products in the “What will you sell?” section. Once finished click “I’m done” and that’s it you have successfully set up your Shopify store.

Step 3: Create and Design your Online Store

Once you’re signed up, you’ll be directed to your dashboard, the brain of your website, the place you’ll be spending a lot of time in Shopify. Start customizing your store, do general settings, upload products, set up payment methods, and shipping details.

Step 4: Select your Storefront Theme

Your store is incomplete if it doesn’t have the branded Shopify storefront running. Shopify has its own Theme Store that offers over 180 customized templates to make the branding process easy peasy. Go to the theme library, find a theme that fits perfectly with your brand. To see how it functions and navigates, click “View Demo”. Once you’ve chosen a theme you like, click the green button, confirm and click “Publish as my Shop’s Theme”.

Step 5: Add Your Products

Now it’s time to add your products. Go on the main menu on the left, click on “products” then “Add a product” in the top right corner of the page. Enter the product’s title and make sure to write a detailed description of the benefits and features of the product. Add professional and high-quality product images. Be consistent with your product sizing and styling. Once everything is filled out click “Save product’ in the top and bottom right corners.

Step 6: Set Up Payment Methods

A payment gateway permits the customer to make purchases on your storefront. Different payment methods have their own set of rules, so it’s important to see what features are they offering. To configure the payment gateway, go to payment provider settings and click “Complete account setup” so your customer can make purchases via credit cards.

Step 7: Shipping Settings

Adjust your shipping settings only if you’re shipping items using USPS discounted rates for Shopify stores, it computes the shipping charges based on size and weight so your customer pays what it costs you to ship. Make sure to enter the exact weight and size on the product pages.

Easy Location: This one is an automatic GeoIP redirect app that redirects the user to the appropriate store language on your page.

Discount Upsell: You can set up automatic discounts with this app and do multiple coupons.
